Shirley Jane Nelson, 84, passed away on November 20, 2023 in St. George, Utah of natural causes. She was born in Orange, California on September 12, 1939, to Haskell Charles Williams and Cleo Pearl (Awalt) Williams.

Shirley Williams and Chester Loyd Nelson were married on July 3, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nevada while Loyd was in the US Air Force. As their life continued together in California and then Utah, Shirley became the mother of two sons: Brian Haskell Nelson (Dixie) and Blaine Loyd Nelson (Dianne). Loyd passed away November 24, 2010 in Warren, Utah. She leaves her two sons and five grandchildren: Brett (Karlie), Kevin, Mitchell (Lindsey), Nicole (Jeremy) and Terry (Alecia). Shirley’s great grandchildren include: Charlotte, Daxton, Kaden, Kenna, Kyler, Lainie, Logan, Madison, Owen, Patrick and Riley.

She is preceded in death by Loyd, her parents and her brother, Donald Ray Williams (Betty Vineyard). Shirley’s life was filled with adventure, beaches, hard work (HAFB), heartache, pecan pies, travel, ski slopes, ATV’s, SCUBA, Okie heritage and Jesus. She was born during the Great Depression, grew up during World War II, and was at Disneyland the day it opened July 17, 1955. Shirley’s life became her composition, and she is greatly loved and missed. As she wished there will be no formal services.
