Listen to Obituary

Sue Ann Turner Lister passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2026 surrounded by family. Born on May 20, 1948 in Delta, Utah, she was the fourth and youngest child of Reed and Elizabeth (Betty) Turner.

Growing up in Delta near the greasewoods and the water tower; Sue found her passion and calling in music and performance early in her home, church and community. This calling ultimately led her to the music and theatre departments of Southern Utah University (then Southern Utah State College) where she met and later married her eternal companion Norman H. Lister in the Manti LDS Temple on March 19, 1970.

Along the way, Sue and Norman spread the love of music, theatre and art in every community and state they resided in. They even had their own personal quartet with their four children: Jeremy, Remey, Melinda and Adam.

Once her children were old enough to not burn the house down, Sue returned to college to finish her education with a degree in teaching. Upon completion of her Bachelors degree, she spent the next 16 years at Pine View Middle School where she taught Choral Music and Art with love, inspiration, dry wit and no-nonsense.

A woman of many talents; Sue was an accomplished singer, poet, artist, writer, quilter, cook, baker, gardener and an absolute crack-shot with a gun. We will miss our force of nature Sue. We will miss her humor and sass, her divine croissant rolls at the Holidays (90% butter), her true love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and countless other things. Our sense of loss however, is overshadowed by our gratitude for her presence and love in our lives.

Sue was preceded in death by her father Reed, her mother Betty, her brother Reed Lynn, sister Cora Jane (Sanders), beloved nephews Ralph & Roger Smith and her beautiful daughter in-law Soana Lister. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Norman, sister Nellie Nadine (Smith), her four children Jeremy, Remey (Tsosie), Melinda (Ehlers) and Adam, 2 handsome sons-in-law Swanny and Sam and 11 cherished grandchildren.

The Lister family would like to thank Renew Home Health and Hospice for the loving professionals who helped care for Sue the last few months with dignity and compassion.
