Vermine Fuatino Keaka Kaaihue "Tutu" Haws, a beloved matriarch and cherished presence in the lives of her family and friends, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at her home in Washington, Utah. She was 87 years old.
Born on October 26, 1938, in Kahuku, Hawaii, Vermine grew up surrounded by the beauty and traditions of her island home. Her life was deeply rooted in love for her family and a commitment to nurturing those around her. Known affectionately as "Tutu," she carried the spirit of aloha with her wherever she went.
Vermine is survived by her brother Eric and sisters Waddy and Crystal. She leaves behind a legacy through her children: Larry, Carolyn, Joel, Perry, Paul Junior, Leilani, Brook, Ben and Ruth. Her family tree flourished with 42 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her memory.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life Paul, her parents Joemaka and Matilda; brothers Sonny, Nali, George and Raymond; sisters Rayma, Dawn, and Ardis; and her great-great-granddaughter Remi. Their memories remain intertwined with hers as part of a deeply rooted family tree.
Vermine’s life was a testament to resilience, devotion, and the enduring bonds of family. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held on August 8, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Iosepa cemetery in Skull Valley, Utah. A luau in her honor will follow this celebration.
