Vickie Lynn Byrd, born July 5, 1952, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026. The gentle nature of Vickie’s passing stood in contrast to the bold, tough, and unforgettable spirit carried throughout every year of life.

For 35 years, Vickie shared a deep and unshakeable partnership with Elizabeth “Liz” Bostick. Together, they built a life filled with loyalty, humor, love, and a bond that weathered anything life tried to throw at them.

Vickie’s oldest child, Dixie Smith (Paul), was placed for adoption due to Vickie’s young age and the difficult circumstances of the time. Fifty years later—5 years, 1 week, and 1 day before Vickie’s passing—Vickie and Dixie were reunited. Their reconnection became one of the most meaningful and joyful chapters in Vickie’s life.

6 years after Dixie’s birth, Vickie welcomed a son, Shane Byrd. Shayne’s youth was filled with motion and challenge—BMX racing, football, and a drive for excitement. After high school, Shayne set out to live a life full of adventure and travel, a path that made Vickie both worried and proud, and one that gave them both endless stories to share.

Through Vickie and Liz’s partnership, two more boys became part of Vickie’s life: Steve (Tawny) and Randy (Teri) Bostick. Photos of their families, and children fill the walls of Vickie and Liz’s Cherokee Springs home, bringing joy, warmth, and countless stories to share with friends.

Anyone who knew Vickie knew exactly where they stood—because Vickie didn’t believe in sugarcoating anything. Direct, blunt, and honest to the bone, Vickie was famous for saying what others only thought. More than once, Vickie joked about being like John Wayne’s toilet paper: rough, rugged, and not about to take anything from anyone. But behind that tough exterior was a fiercely loyal heart. If you needed someone in your corner—someone who would defend you, protect you, and stand with you through hell and back—that someone was Vickie.

Vickie’s laughter, grit, stubbornness, and unwavering love created a lifetime of memories for those lucky enough to be part of her world. Friends and family will continue to carry forward stories of humor, strength, and the kind of steadfast support that defined Vickie’s life.

Vickie grew up in Syracuse, Utah, in a family of nine. Vickie was preceded in passing by father Darwin Byrd, mother Kathryn Miller Byrd, and brother Bill Byrd (Ann). Vickie is survived by siblings Leslie Byrd (Carol), Nene Weese (Mike), Paul Byrd (Tammy), Richard Byrd, and Barbara Flemming (Jeff).

Vickie worked for GE Health Care for over twenty years where she made many memories and friends. She loved to tell the tails of her time spent at GE.

Vickie is survived by Liz, Steve, Randy, Shane, and Dixie, along with twelve Grand Children – two deceased, twelve Great Grand Children, extended family and close friends who loved Vickie deeply and will feel this loss profoundly.

In the months to come celebrations of Vickie’s life will be held in Washington, Utah and Salt Lake area. Dates and times will be announced.
