William Randolph Perkins, 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on December 27, 2022 from respiratory failure after a prolonged illness. William was born on September 6, 1946 in San Bernardino, California to William Ray Perkins and Mary Patricia Tyler Perkins. He was raised by his beloved grandmother, Ruth Bomar Perkins Bickford who was his rock during his formative years.
He joined the US Navy, following a brief stint at Loma Linda University, during the Vietnam War. After serving his country, he pursued and received his Bachelor of Science degree at UCLA.
He went on to obtain his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at USC in 1980. Bill returned to the military (US Army) to complete his mandatory service for his education. Stationed in El Paso, Texas, he met the love of his life, Shawn Rampton. After the military, Bill and Shawn built a successful dental practice in Corona, California. Often singing while practicing dentistry, Bill’s patients and colleagues affectionately called him the “Singing Dentist”. He took pride in the painless (almost) treatment and fun relaxed atmosphere he provided for his patients. He sold his practice in 2014 and moved to Ivins, Utah in 2019.
Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shawn Rampton Perkins, Ivins, Ut; his sons from his first marriage to Suzanne Perkins, Daniel J Perkins (Jennifer Lynne Fitzpatrick), Huntington Beach, CA; James C Perkins (Lissie) Huntington Beach, CA; Bill & Shawn’s son, Adam Perkins, Riverside, CA; grandchildren Esaiath, Noah, Emma, Madison, Olivia, William Perkins and his sisters Pat Hoferer and Teresa Gerardy.
A memorial for his life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 12:00 pm at the LDS Chapel 625 East Center Street, Ivins, UT 84738. Bill will be interred in the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA., at a later date.
