On August 10, 2020 at 5pm Barry "Shorty" Lee Braley, at the age of 79 past away in the home he raised his boys, surrounded by his family who had the privilege of taking care of him during his last days after a 7 year battle with prostate cancer.
Barry was born on May 3, 1941 in Harverhill, Massachusetts. His Father Claude E Braley and His Mother Arlene G Walker Braley. The oldest of 3, he is survived by two sisters Sharon Barnett & husband Terry and Dawn Stevens.
Barry has enjoyed 13 years of retirement from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) where he was the go to for any and all solutions for fire management crews and support.
Barry was the gold standard in hard working men. After retirement from the BLM he had planned to travel but his work ethic got the best of him and turned his retirement home and property into an improvement project that took up most of his time. Everyone who knows him is sure to remember the "look at my new project" conversations.
Barry enjoyed telling stories of his life experiences. If you met him you may remember his story about being a drag racer, race car driver and how he used to race Steve McQueen and most of the greats when NASCAR was just getting started.
Barry loved his kids and grandchildren with the mantra of "family first". His greatest joys were taking his grandchildren out to lunch or watching them play in the new tree house he had just built.
Barry is survived by three sons William Braley (Lakeside,CA), Patrick Braley and his wife Jennie(Veyo, UT) & Shane Braley (Santa Clara, UT)as well as 6 Grandchildren Brad, Mackenzie, Trisadee, Gabriel, Foster and Ava and 2 great grand daughters Ivrie and Jazzmine.
