Billy Joe Kirk, 75, March 12, 2021 died in St George, Utah. He was born October 10, 1945 to Ophelia May and Joe Benedette in Bakersfield, California. Ophelia (Betty) remarried in 1948 James Harold Kirk. James was his Dad. Bill and Edyth married January 26, 1965 in Bakersfield, CA.

Bill was the oldest of 9 children, he was a much loved older brother. ( Harvey d., James, Tim d., Marvin, Mike.,d, Pat, Chris.,d, Carolyn) He was raised on the east side of Bakersfield, graduating from East high school. He started working at Banducci's restaurant as a dishwasher, then became the cook. He worked a number of jobs, and ran his own appliance repair business. He went on to work for the department of food and agriculture in California. He had many dear friends and coworkers whom he has kept in touch with. He retired in 2005 to Central, Utah near St George with the love of his life Edie. He helped his community by reading the water meters monthly for years. His love of the outdoors had brought him many times to the beautiful state of Utah. The love of cooking, fishing and hunting has been passed to his family.

He is survived by his wife Edyth Ethel, the love of his life. Their children Patricia (Larry d.,) Hahaj of Central, Utah, James Kirk and Carla of Exeter, CA. Susan and Matt McCoy of Reno, NV. Grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brock Hahaj, William Hahaj, Brandon Jones, Brittney Foster, Blake Jones, Jarrid Kirk, Jacob Kirk, Jeffery Kirk, Michaela Neyhart.

Bill was not a man who liked a fuss to be made over himself. He wanted to be cremated and his ashes are to be combined with his wife’s, when her time comes. His family will spread their ashes in a place of meaning.
