Denece Larsen

July 6, 1933 — July 15, 2020

St. George, Utah

St. George, UT — Denece Gaye Christensen Larsen (87) passed away peacefully July 15, 2020, of age-related health issues following recent recovery from COVID-19.

She is survived by her husband Curtiss Leon Larsen, together residing at Wentworth at the Meadows since 2018. They moved to the St. George area in 1992.

Denece was the youngest of four children, born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 6, 1933, to Lloyd S. Christensen and Ruth Evelyn Lundsteen.  Being raised in the Salt Lake City area, she enjoyed family life, learning, and especially singing.  Denece was a proud alumnus of South High School.  She attended LDS Business College where she studied and later worked in bookkeeping.

Denece married Curtiss Leon Larsen on April 23, 1953, in the Manti LDS Temple.  They have resided in Boise Idaho, Cedar City, Utah, Ogden, Utah, Ontario, California, and spent the majority of their married life in either Salt Lake City or St. George. They lovingly raised their three sons, Michael, Clayne, and Bryce.  Cherished experiences with immediate and extended family have always been a priority.

Over the years, Denece has enjoyed music, especially vocal music.  She has taken many opportunities to share her love of music as an accomplished soprano soloist and as a member of various choral groups.  She served her church faithfully. Her most recent service was authoring the weekly church newsletter.  She dutifully performed this task for more than 20 years.  Denece has been talented and prolific in a number of handicrafts, including knitting, crocheting, sewing, weaving, needlepoint, painting and tatting.  Many family and friends have lovingly received her wonderful handicraft gifts. She also won numerous blue ribbons for her handicrafts at the annual Washington County Fair.

Denece’s posterity includes three sons, ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.

Family services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy Utah.

In lieu of gifts and flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity.  The family wishes to thank Wentworth at The Meadows for their loving care of Curt and Denece.
