Obituary

Floyd W. Patrick, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in St. George, Utah, Wednesday, December 09, 2020.

Pat was a loving husband, father and grandfather of two. He is survived by his wife Gayle of 56 years, daughters Tamra James, Roger James(Ex-son-in-law), and Shannon Patrick; Grandchildren: Nic James, Lauren Hier, and Jordan Hier(grandson-in-law); Great Grandchildren: Laynie and Livia Hier. He is also survived by his siblings Wanda, Barbara, and Don.

Floyd (Pat) was born in Napa, California, December 10, 1943. He graduated from Napa High School. Pat joined the US Army in 1962 and served his tour. Afterwards he went to work for International Harvester in San Leandro, California for 12 years and was made foreman of shipping and handling and later transferred to Chicago, Illinois. He later moved to Ely, Nevada where he owned and operated an Arctic Circle fast food chain for several years.  The Franchise offered him a larger volume store where he accepted and moved his family to Eureka, California.

After finally locating his father after 40+ years, Pat and Gayle took a wild adventure and moved to Wasilla Alaska to form a Father and Son relationship that Pat sought for so many years. Pat opened a small bait and tackle shop on the homestead. Pat was well known for his fishing roe and smoked salmon. Surrounding Alaskans would travel to his little bait shop. It was a dream come true as an avid fisherman to enjoy the many hours in the Alaska territory doing what he truly loved.

After the passing of his father in Alaska, Pat and Gayle moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon for 25 years.  Pat was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt with his family and friends.

Pat suffered with lung and back pain disability for many years with no complaining, and he lived his life with no regrets enjoying life when he could with family.

He was a Proud American and we will miss his humor and wittiness and his cleaver way of saying stuff to us.

His final 3 years of life were in St. George, Utah. Cremation took place at McMillan Mortuary in St. George, Utah. A celebration of Life will be announced at later date. Pat loved his Heavenly Father and waits for us all to be reunited again.

God saw the road was getting rough,

The hill was hard to climb;

He gently closed the weary eyes

And whispered “Peace Be Thine.”

What you suffered you told but few,

You did not deserve what you went through,

Tired and weary you made no fuss,

But tried so hard to stay with us.

Your life was one of kindly deeds,

A helping hand for others’ needs,

Sincere and true in heart and mind,

Beautiful memories left behind

Your life was love and labour,

Your love for family true;

You did your best for all of us,

We will always remember you.

Oh God! When we are lonely,

And wonder why he’s gone,

Forgive us for our heartache,

And help us carry on.
