Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Glenda Joan Durr, passed away on August 31, 2020, 3 days prior to her 83rd birthday. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Glenda was born September 3, 1937 to Amos and Josie Williams in Dallas, Texas, the second of three children. At the age of 3 she moved to El Paso, Texas, where she lived until her husband’s retirement. She was married to her sweetheart and eternal companion, Burton Durr. Burt was the love of her life and she was his “only girl I will ever love”. Together they raised 3 sons, Michael, David and Paul, whom she was always telling to “rassle (wrestle) outside and not in the house.”
They moved to Erda, Utah in 1990 and built their dream home. Theirs was a home filled with laughter and love. Family gatherings were always occurring and there was a never-ending reason to get together. They moved to St. George, Utah in 2005, a place they loved dearly, and the joy continued and grew year over year.
She is remembered and loved by her posterity:
“We were never very good at goodbyes. In my mind I see her standing in the driveway of heaven waving wildly”
“Grandma was the epitome of kindness, service and unconditional love. She put me in a better mood after visiting with her, either in person or on the phone. She was my best friend”
“Glenda had a special ability to make all in her presence feel loved.”
“She taught me how to make a bed the right way, wipe down the shower after you used it, make croutons from toast and her pecan pie was the best!”
“She was the sweetest and spunkiest woman”.
She was a great Dallas Cowboys fan and loved watching them when they won and was equally upset when they didn’t.
Glenda is once again united with Burt, who preceded her in death in 2017. She was also preceded in death by a grandson son, Joseph Adams and granddaughter, Haile Durr.
She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Kay Durr, David and Sharon Durr, and Paul and Stacy Durr, along with 16 grandchildren, and 47 great-grandchildren.
