Ilona Petty

Ilona Lewis Petty passed away March 21, 2022 in St. George, Utah. She was born January 15, 1941 in Kanab Utah.  She was the 6th child born to Adolphia James Lewis and Leona Rider Lewis.  She had two brothers and 3 sisters.  Their names are in order Elvin James Lewis, Edwina L. (Joel) Heaton, Verna L (Paul) Myers, Orald Fredrick Lewis and Noel (Kelton) Chamberlain.

She lived in Kanab where she loved to hike the K Hill with her cousins.  She almost died at the age of 6 due to an appendicitis and she was told she would never have children because of it.  She moved to St. George with her mother at the age of 15 and finished high school, graduating in 1959.  In St. George her artistic talent flourished and worked at Dixie College as a Commercial Artist.

She married John D. Tisdale and was ultimately blessed with 8 children.  She married Rulon H. Petty in 1985 and added 4 more children.

Rulon and Ilona together served in the Canada Calgary Mission for 18 months.

She is preceded in death by both parents, all of her siblings, her husband Rulon, her son James David, daughter-in-law Melody, son-in-law Dennis and grandson James.

She is survived by Mike (Jennifer) Tisdale, Kathleen Tisdale, Wendy (Mike) Buhler, Tina (Scott) Hardy, John (Darci) Tisdale, Ron (Michele) Tisdale, Peggy Clem, Bonnie (Lynn) Vern, Carole (Dave) Clegg, Paula (Mont) Bundy, Rulon Shaun (Genice) Petty, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 11:00am at the LDS Chapel, 449 S. 300 E. St. George Utah. A viewing will be held prior to services from 10:00-10:45am at the same location.  She will be buried in the Gunnison Cemetery directly following the services.
