James Albert Lucchetti, of St George Utah, passed from this life to the next on January 9, 2022. He spent the last days of his life with those he loved most, his wife, children and grandchildren, who were there to support and uplift him through his final days.

Jim was a man who loved God, his family and friends, and his country. He was a man of strong faith and integrity, and an unyielding love of freedom.

He was born in Palo Alto, California in 1947 to Albert and Arlien Lucchetti. He was the second of two children. His sister Sharlien said he was always a free spirited child with a twinkle in his eye.The two of them have remained friends with strong family ties throughout their lives.

The family lived in Mountain View and Los Altos in his early years. They relocated to Cloverdale, California where Jim grew up until he joined the Navy when he was 17 years old. He honorably served our country including three tours in Vietnam then later joined the Special Forces in the Utah National Guard.

In 1970 Jim married DeLauna Giles, the love of his life. They were happily married for 51 years. They were blessed with 6 children, Pete Lucchetti, John Lucchetti, Lydia Song, Lisa Van Sickler, Alan Lucchetti and David Lucchetti. They brought their spouses, Debbie Lucchetti (Pete), Nancy Lucchetti (John), Chi Song (Lydia), and Colby VanSickler (Lisa) to further grow and enrich the family. They then blessed the family with 9 wonderful grandchildren, Marius, Cameron, Audrey, Bailey, Jimmy, Leo, Charlie, Dylan and Kate. Jim enjoyed the time he spent with all of them. He loved watching them grow and develop their talents to enrich the lives of many others. He enjoyed sharing his interests with those he loved, which included spending time outdoors, boating, fishing, shooting, motorcycles, photography, skiing, horseback riding, off-roading and snowmobiling.

Jim had a long and successful career in Industrial Technology and was a pioneer in the field of Automation, where he achieved recognition for his many contributions and innovations. He was creative and intelligent and loved to work hard to make things better. He loved to mentor and nurture the talents of the men and women who worked with him. He helped them develop their skills and expertise which resulted in many deep, loyal, and long lasting friendships.
