Obituary

On March 18, 2022, Jeremy Allen Cogdell, 28, began his next journey . . . continuing along his path. His loss was completely unexpected; leaving his grieving family and friends shocked and deeply saddened. He will be missed by so many in countless ways - as a grandson, uncle, brother, son and father. Jeremy’s daughter, Emery Alaina Codgell, was the light of his life. In his own words, Jeremy described Emery as his beautiful, other half. She was his rock, his greatest blessing - the one thing that kept him going and constantly striving to be the best person possible.

Jeremy was born in St. George, Utah on August 18, 1993. His family moved to Washington City when Jeremy was 4 and he grew up surrounded by friends, where he ensured life was a great adventure for everyone. All who knew Jeremy will remember his contagious smile and goofy laugh. He never failed to put a smile on the face of others. Jeremy possessed a strong worth ethic and natural leadership abilities from birth - giving his best to everything he did . . . whether cleaning his shoes or building trusses. His bigger-than-life personality completely filled any room he entered and lifted all. Countless lives are better due to the way Jeremy lived his life - directly due to his influence and love.

For Jeremy, family came first and an opportunity to spend time with and support those he loved was never wasted or taken for granted. Family didn’t only mean blood relation to Jeremy, though. It included everyone he chose and was always evident in his love for Emery’s little sister, Aiyana. Jeremy lived his life authentically - always unapologetically willing to use the strengths developed through his own struggles to improve the lives of others. Not only was he there for others in the moment, but consistently followed-up or checked in to ensure everyone was ok. Jeremy will forever be considered not only a best friend, but a brother - by many - as he loved freely and with his whole heart.

As Jeremy began this next phase in his journey, he was greeted by his Father, Joe Conkle, and Maternal Grandfather, Charles Hawes (better known as Papa Charlie). Until we see him again, Jeremy will be deeply missed by his Daughter, Emery; Mother, Cindy Stock; Stepfather, Mason Stock; Sister, Jennifer; Brothers Paul (Flor), Adam, Matthew (Christy), Jacob, Isaac, Benjamin; Stepmother, Lynda Conkle; Grandparents Hal & Mary Ann Halford; a handful of step / half siblings Jesse, Joe, Jonny, Kasey, Sarah, Jamie; those who know him as Uncle Jerm . . . Kannon, Little Paul and Cyndi; his girlfriend Breana and many other close friends...and we can't forget his Puppers Jax!

Jeremy is now our guardian angel and we know this is not goodbye, but see you later.

A graveside service in Jeremy’s honor will be held at Washington City Cemetery on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11am. Jeremy had been working hard on his back yard and hoping for a fire pit (or more accurately nagging Cindy for permission to build a fire pit in their shared backyards) for a long time. So, we will hold off a few weeks while we finish his fire pit and will then gather in the backyard of his childhood home for A Celebration of Life in his honor on Saturday, April 23rd at 6pm.
