Louise Parsons

Louise May Niebuhr Parsons, beloved wife of Tom Ernest Parsons, passed away peacefully due to a stroke on September 27, 2022 in St. George, Utah.

Louise was born on February 5, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to August Heinrich Niebuhr and Ruth Cummings.  She was the youngest of five sisters and one younger brother.

Louise attended Whittier Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High, and South High School in Salt Lake City, UT. She worked at her father’s drive-in (Cummings Drive In) for many years where she made many great memories. She loved to travel enjoying the beauties of the earth, but most of all spending time with family.

Louise met the love of her life, Tom Earnest Parsons, in Salt Lake City in 1966. Louise and Tom were married on September 30, 1966 in Price, Utah. The family was later sealed December 1970 in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

They began their life in Salt Lake City where Tom worked in auto body repair and Louise stayed home with their two young sons.  They later moved to Santa Barbara, CA where they adopted a little girl. They enjoyed looking for new horizons and moved to Las Vegas, NV, Faribault, MN, finally stopping in St. George, UT.

Louise was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many church callings. The most recent calling was serving the members of the Red Cliffs Branch, specifically serving the church members at the Sterling Court Senior Center and the Red Cliffs Rehabilitation Center. Along with her husband, she assisted the elderly members in attending church meetings and in giving other tender loving care. She had a great love for the people that she served and developed special friendships. She was loved for her generous heart and gentle spirit. She was deeply loved by so many people that met her.

She is survived by her sister Gayle (Richard) Scott, brother Paul (Tona) Niebuhr, her sons Dennis (Angie) Parsons and Troy (Lisa) Parsons and her daughter Tonya Parsons Fortner; her grandchildren Ashlie (Brian) Bingham, Elizabeth Parsons, Alex Parsons, Katie Parsons, Nick (Katrina) Parsons, Cody Parsons, Chase Parsons, Reagan Parsons, Kiara Fortner, Isaiah Smith, Calvin Smith, Giovanni Smith, Nevan Smith, and 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her father August Niebuhr, mother Ruth Cummings Niebuhr, sisters Joyce Seeley, Betty Hardman, Marian Eldridge, grandchildren Laura Jo Morrill and Zachery Van der Meide.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 11am at the LDS chapel 2434 E. Riverside Dr., St. George, Utah. A viewing will be help prior to services from 10:00-10:45am at the same location.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 10:30am at the Camp William Chapel, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah

Interment will be at the Camp Williams Cemetery, Bluffdale, Utah, on October 6, 2022.
