Marianne Andrus

August 2, 1952 — April 1, 2022

St. George, Utah

Marianne Connolly Andrus of St. George, Utah and formerly of Sandy, Utah passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was 69 years old.

Born August 2, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mari was the third of five children. The Connollys relocated to Boise where Mari started school and enjoyed her childhood years. Always an exceptional student, she graduated from Nampa High in 1970.

In 1975, Mari and Garth Andrus married in the Provo Temple.  They enjoyed 46 years of support and encouragement for each other. One marriage highlight was being called as a couple to serve in the Salt Lake City Inner City Mission. They also served by assisting Church members in a local nursing home.

Mari felt blessed regarding her children. She wrote "I am special because I have four individual and delightful children who very often brighten my life." Her children were her joy, as were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She saw her family as the essence of all that was good in her world.

Serving the Lord by serving others was important to Mari as witnessed through her service within the church and in her community. She loved teaching Primary children and was an accepting and giving neighbor. Mari served others in nursing homes as Director of Admissions and providing Social Services. In 1997, Mari earned an Associates of Applied Sciences degree in Physical Therapist Assistant and graduated with honors. As a PTA she truly thrived. It proved to be a rewarding capstone for her work life.

Mari is survived by her husband Garth Ivan Andrus, children Camey Cresor, Ruth Knudsen, Louise Andrus Marchant (Travis) and Mason Andrus, grandchildren Madi, Kate, Jake, Quinn, Audrey, Pierce and Tessa, great-grandsons Carter, Charlie and Brooks, brother Dean Bowen Connolly (Joan), sisters Diane Connolly and Janeen Connolly, sister-in-law Glenda Eckman Connolly and twenty-two adoring nieces and nephews. Mari was preceded in death by her parents Edward Joseph Connolly Jr. and Louise Bowen Connolly and her brother Bruce Edward Connolly.

The family is very grateful to staff of Senior Helpers and staff of Dixie Hospice who made it possible for Marianne to remain at home
