Michael Hamner

Michael Clinton Hamner went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2021 after a courageous 4 month battle with cancer.  He passed peacefully at his home in Hurricane, Utah with his beloved wife Trisha Hamner by his side.

Mike was born February 26, 1949 to Clinton Orval and Frances Cleona (Cornett) Hamner in Hot Springs, New Mexico.  The family later moved to Moab, Utah where Mike went to high school.  He joined the Navy in 1966 and completed 4 tours in the Vietnam Conflict before being Honorably discharged in 1970 and spent several more years of service in the National Guard.  He spent 32 years in law enforcement serving and protecting his community as a police officer eventually retiring from Vernal, Utah as Chief of Police in 2005 and moving  to Hurricane, Utah.  Mike was a lifelong ham radio operator and enjoyed communication with fellow operators all over the globe.  He and Trisha had many adventures, and enjoyed road trips on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and most often with fellow officers and friends.  Mike and Trisha enjoyed taking several cruises together.  He enjoyed fly fishing, hunting and the beauty of nature.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Trisha Hamner; his daughters Debra D Hamner of Canoga Park, CA and Cleona M Cunningham (Wayne) of Rufe, OK; his step-sons Todd K Day (Ronda) of Wheatland, WY and Aaron L Inabnit (Robyn) of Layton, UT ; as well as 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; his sister Ellen Jo Williams of Roswell, NM and brother Richard Jennings of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clinton Orval and Frances Cleona Hamner; and his brother Larry Jennings.

A memorial service with military honors is planned for October 2, 2021 (Saturday) at 11:00 am at the Hurricane City Cemetery located at 200 E. 600 N. under the direction of McMillan Mortuary.
