Ramona Romero

November 22, 1960 — October 4, 2021

Hurricane, Utah

Ramona Romero was born November 22, 1960 to the union of the late Arthur Jones and Donna J in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was eight of nine children.  Ramona attended Western Hills Elementary, Kearns Junior High and Kearns High School and graduated from Granite Alternative in 1977. After high school she chased her high school bus driver until she finally caught him.  On May 2, 1981, Ramona was united in marriage to George Luciano Romero, Sr. The couple was married for 33 wonderful years.

“Grandma” as many called her, enjoyed her life to the fullest and had a heart of gold.  As a stay-at-home mom, she enjoyed making crafts, decorating the house for the different holidays, watching her all time favorite sports team the Utah Jazz, she was a wonderful cook, infamously known for her Chili Verde and her Jell-O cake.

Beginning in 1986, Ramona gave her love, time and energy unselfishly to becoming a full-time foster parent for many years.  She was an active member of the community volunteering at different business around the Salt Lake valley.

Ramona was proceeded in death by her husband George Sr, both parents, stepmother Delores, Brother’s Gene and John, sister’s Judy and Doris, sister-in-law Kathy and many extended family members. She is survived by her fiancé Doug, son George Jr. daughter Melissa (Ruben). She was the proud Nana/Grandma to MaKenzie, Allison, Aubrey and Max.  She leaves behind Linda (David), Grayce (Eric), Donna Jean (Dave) and younger brother Robert “Bob” (Teresa), her only living Aunt Jessie and a host of family and friends.

Ramona was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and a true friend that will be dearly missed, but dearly remembered.  The family would also like to give her fiancé Doug a big thank you for caring for her during her final days and always going above and beyond for any of us.
