Rya Plumb

April 1, 1992 — July 4, 2022

LaVerkin, Utah

Thank you for helping us celebrate Rya Chalease Plumb’s Life. We are so grateful for the amazing prayer warriors we have had supporting us, generous friend’s, neighbors and the incredible doctors and nurses some of which felt such a connection to Rya they considered her a friend, even having never met her outside of the ICU.

Rya was the most compassionate person I’ve ever known, and I know many people would agree. Rya would go out of her way to help a complete stranger, even if that meant giving up her last dollar bill or giving someone our space heater in the middle of winter.

Rya was born in St. George at Dixie Regional Hospital on April 1, 1992, April Fools Day and her Father’s birthday. They joked that she was the most expensive birthday gift Walter would ever receive.

She was the first of four children for Walter and Rachel Webb. Her siblings are Kirsten Spriggs (Harrison), Jaden (Emberlee) Webb and Levi (Shayla) Webb. She had a pretty great childhood and loved playing night-games in the neighborhood and getting away with sneaking out of the house when her bedroom was on the 2nd story.

When Rya was eight years old Walter became very ill and Rya’s parents did a role reversal where Walter stayed home with the kids and Rachel went to work. Rya rose to the challenge and enjoyed running the household and being the boss. She may have enjoyed it a little too much in fact and considered herself an equal adult to her parents, which you can imagine became an issue in her teenage years. She took good care of her “papa” as she started calling him and assigned chores to her siblings and any neighbor children who came over. But she also gained important cleaning, mothering and nurturing skills that later helped her transition remarkably easily into becoming an instant bonus mom later in life.

Rya loved the water and was a lifeguard and taught swimming lessons at the Hurricane City Pool when she was 16 with her best Friend Cami Wright. She also became a CNA that year and the neighbor kids and siblings allowed her to doctor them to the point she began saying she was “practically a nurse”.

Rya loved reading and it’s fair to say had a Harry Potter obsession. She was a self-proclaimed Slytherin who knew all her spells and considered the book characters friends. She enjoyed decorating and threw lavish theme parties for her kids. We are certain she held onto life just so she could pass on the 4th of July. That way the family would have a party every year to celebrate her Life and Liberty with a fun predetermined color scheme and everyone would have matching outfits.

Rya graduated from Hurricane High School in 2010 under the loving mentorship of Jody Rich. She was fascinated by the medical field and studied at Dixie State University. She went on to become a Medical Assistant, which is what she was doing when we met. She loved helping people. She was phobic of needles but her favorite thing to do, besides popping pimples, was to give Testosterone shots.

When she was 19 years old, she was in a jeep accident which caused a herniated disc in her spine. The injury left her with chronic pain and she became addicted to pain pills. Her addiction, depression and anxiety were a challenge for her but by the Grace of our Father in Heaven and never-ending love from her family she overcame her addiction and never looked back. From that moment on everyone that she met or read about on social media who was struggling with similar issues, Rya felt a special responsibility to help share her story and offer encouragement and support.

Rya and I met the beginning part of 2014 online through a dating app called Tinder. We went on our first date and were inseparable from that moment on. After a very long courtship… say maybe 3 months, I got down on 1 knee and proposed. And yes, she said yes. We were married and sealed to each other for time and all Eternity on October 10, 2014. We have 2 kids together, but I brought 2 kids with me from my previous marriage. Rya claimed them and loved them as her own. We have Grace 15, Gibson 12, Kannon 6, and our baby Brixton 2. Last year we Celebrated our 7-year anniversary.

Rya was very active in the Church. She was passionate about girl’s camp and the young woman’s program, but she also loved serving with the RS presidency as a secretary. Rya cherished her Temple recommend, she wanted to be one who would come “recommended to the Lord” and tried hard to follow the savior and live worthy of her temple recommend that she carried with her always.

Rya was very passionate about cleaning and organizing. So much so she started a Business, Zion Co-Host, and Cleaning Company. This company was her pride and Joy. She took on every client and treated their Airbnb as if it was her own. The company grew quicky and she had two lovely ladies working with her as well as her disabled Uncle David who she was especially close with.

She had a great love for the ocean and all things outdoors including hunting and riding 4 wheelers. We had just returned from an extended family camping trip exploring slot canyons on East Zion the weekend before her accident where her brother Levi and sister-in-law Shayla work as guides. She had an amazing time and wouldn’t stop raving about it to me. I will most certainly treasure the time we had together.

Rya often said the strength to overcome her addiction and challenges came from the Lord and the Gospel. She started to study the scriptures everyday and sometimes multiple times per day. And I don’t mean just reading them, I mean tearing apart each story and trying to understand the meanings behind them. She loved her matching scripture study guides and would make notes in the margins, always in blue ink, never black.

Rya truly was able to show me and others what its like to have unconditional love for everyone just as our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ has for all of us. Even in death she was able to bless the lives of others by donating her heart, liver and other lifesaving organs. I’m so grateful to be blessed with the knowledge that I will be able to be with the Love of my life again. She is my Best friend, my Wife, My Everything. Until we meet again my Love
