Sandra S Campbell

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Sandra S Campbell, 76, of Hurricane, Utah on Friday, December 11, 2020 after a long fought battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma.

Sandra (Sandy to most who knew her) was determined to live each day and “not be sick”. She stayed strong and resilient when others would have folded with the progression of this disease.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Ralph M Campbell.  Although they never had children together they enjoyed blending each family and the children surviving are Travis(Janice), Diane(Steve) and Tanya(Thad), Tina, Tammie, Tony, Randy(Autumn) and John. She was blessed with 28+ grandchildren and 40+ great-grandchildren, and she loved each of them dearly.

She was born to the late parents of John Thomas Ellis and Alice Jeanne Engleman in 1944 in Lubbock, Texas. A year later her brother Kenny Don came along and he resides in Texas today. She was later adopted by David DeWitt Miller Jr., from Alice and David’s union came three sisters Dian, Debbie, and Pam who are in Texas as well. She also has many nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.

Sandra led an adventurous life, roaming from states of California, Texas and Utah where she finally settled long term. She enjoyed having and riding horses and fostering and owning several dogs. She and Ralph had several business opportunities while running the El Rio hotel in Springdale and working for Nielson’s RV and selling cars and doing the title work at The Car Barn. She knew and met many people in the town of Hurricane where she has lived for the past 20+ years. She will be greatly missed by those around her from McDonalds, Lins, Walgreen’s, Mountain American Credit Union, Ernies and Mavericks where she would get the Tribune on the weekends.

She was an avid card and domino player and enjoyed many a game of Spades and Pinnocle and family game called crazy bridge. She would often catch folks cheating with a wink of an eye and just let it pass by; even more the challenge she would say later on! She enjoyed these games with anyone who would play – Mavin/Karen and Mavis/JR, her brother and sister-in-laws and of course teaching the young ones how to play.

We were grateful to have had our Mom with us for many years, for her example of fun and enjoyment of life and her fighting spirit that showed us not to give up when things get tough. She will be sorely missed in our daily lives and thought of with every sunset and sunrise over these Utah mountains that she loved so much.

A special thank you to the staff at Dixie Regional Medical Center, ER, ICU, and Nursing Staff. Also a thank you to Zions Way Hospice, her nurse Michelle, and her CNA Bronson.

A Celebration of Life will be held for her on January 16, 2021, details will be announced at a later date.
